From the beginning of her life, Aimee Walker was faced with many challenges. She is blind in one eye; deaf, and told she may never be able to walk. Her parents were told she would be faced with many problems, but that didn’t stop them from having a positive attitude. Doctors told her family she would never have the capability to walk, let alone dance, but she proved them wrong.

At 8 years old, Aimee watched her cousins participate in gymnastics, but was told she could not because the gym did not know how to communicate with her. However, a coach saw her gymnastic skills, and told her mother she would teach her gymnastics.

After undergoing many surgeries and rounds of physical therapy, Aimee received an athletic scholarship to UCLA. While there, she helped her team win a NCAA championship in 2004.

“I love my family, my friends, and I am so thankful to God for the faith and patience to take me through my challenges.”
